Salvation - does it mean what you think it means?

Salvation - does it mean what you think it means?

“And the Lord added to their number daily those who were BEING saved.” ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭47‬ ‭ This is commonly understood to simply mean "people were added to the church when they said the sinners prayer and were saved" But I believe it is so much more than that.

Here's how it appears to read:
The verse in Greek reads: καὶ ὁ κύριος προσετίθει τοὺς σῳζομένους καθ’ ἡμέραν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ

That word σῳζομένους = sōzomenous sōzomenous = present participle, specifically in the masculine accusative plural form.
The Voice is passive - meaning the action is being received by the direct object.
The tense is present and it indicates continuous or ongoing action. σῳζομένους - sōzomenous is used here to indicate people who are in the process of being saved.

The present tense highlights that this is an ongoing process, happening continuously. The passive voice indicates that the action of saving is being done by someone else.

The root verb = σῴζω = sōzō Which means to save, to rescue, to deliver from danger or destruction. This includes the whole of the mind, the spirit, the emotions, the body, finances, relationships...and it can be translated as being applicable to past, present and future.

It means to deliver from sin. And what is sin? "All the things we do wrong" ? Nope. Sin is not the doing. Wrong doing is the RESULT of sin. Sin = a deformed design. A being that is out of shape.
So, next time you find yourself questioning whether or not someone is saved, you might want to ask yourself the same question. Are you fully saved? Are you all done and perfected and completely whole in every possible area, just like Jesus?
Or do you just know The One who continually saves and now realise you have a wonderful opportunity to share Him with someone who doesn't yet know the incredible saving power of His name?
